Water makes up most of our earth’s surface. Of the 70% of water in the world, only 3% of it is freshwater available to human. Pollution is slowly destroying our water supply. Most of the pollution comes from sewage and industry. It spreads through water as it flows. Contaminated water can cause serious health problems and is responsible for 7 million deaths in the US every year. Pollution is also one of the most prominent environmental problems in the world today.
The water we have today is the only water we will ever have on the planet. The dirt, grime, and contaminants, such as oil and dirt, can flow through the water into rivers, lakes, and oceans. Oil that gets into the water is very hard to get out as well as industrial waste and sewage. Even though sometimes we can remove the pollutants, it is very hard to do so if it has been laying there for months. Trash that gets into the water is also damaging to wildlife that we depend on for food. It is slowly ruining our supply of water, which is a very precious resource. We need to take action and clean up our acts to cut down on water pollution. The damage it causes to the environment is too prominent to ignore.
